Nominees for 2013 ODS Board and Absentee Ballot

Absentee Ballot

Pamela Byers
A native of Minnesota, I grew up competing horses at 4-H and saddle club shows. After completing an associate’s degree in Light Horse Management at the Univ.of Minnesota Technical College at Waseca, I worked at large Quarter Horse and Appaloosa show horse facilities in four different mid-western states, settling in OK to pursue a degree in Business Management at the OU.
While completing my degree, I worked full time at OU in the College of Education. After graduating I took a position as a program coordinator running large adult programs (week long conferences in several different states with 300 to 400 participants) in the College of Continuing Education. While working at OU I began my eventing career, placing 2nd place out of 25 horses at the 1994 Area V Training Level Championships and it was also during that time I started giving riding lessons part-time. In March of 2004, I quit my job at OU to work fulltime running our equestrian business, Gallery Farm, owned by husband, Bruce Byers and myself. Currently, I give riding instruction; train and board horses; and direct and support a very active junior team. Gallery Farm puts on four horse shows (Dressage, H/J, and Combined Tests) and several dressage and jumping clinics a year.

In 1995, I helped form The Oklahoma Eventers Association (OKE) and served as Treasurer, Vice President, President and a general board member. This organization has helped to nurture the sport of eventing within the state of Oklahoma. I have been an ODS member for many years and have shown and helped my students show in both schooling and recognized dressage shows.

With my business degree, background in event organization, and experience in the horse industry, I feel I would be an asset to the ODS Board and welcome the opportunity to help bring dressage educational experiences to our state.

I am a hunter/jumper and dressage instructor for RNR Farms, a schooling and show barn in Bixby, OK. I have been teaching riding lessons for 10 years and showing competitively on the A-circuit for about 18 years, both locally and nationally as well as abroad in Europe. Besides riding, I also enjoy showing young horses in sport horse breeding competitions. I would like to use my experience to further promote dressage amongst hunter/jumper riders, as well as increase general awareness of the sport.

Clydette Womack

I have been a member of ODS for over 20 years. My tenure with ODS allows me to bring an historical knowledge of our organization. I have served on the ODS board for the past two years.

My career involved advertising and marketing. I was an officer in the National Newspaper Association of America and its division president for research. This experience provides me with a background in marketing and board organizations.

Most important of all is my love for horses and dressage. If elected I will do my best to farther the goals of ODS.
